Radiative forcing factor Aviation's climate impact is greater than its CO₂ emissions alone — high-altitude contrails, NOx and water vapour cause additional warming. The radiative forcing (RF) factor multiplies the CO₂ emissions to estimate the total climate impact. Default 1.9 follows DEFRA's official "+90%" uplift convention. The more recent Lee et al. 2021 ERF analysis suggests a higher central value of ~3.0 (range 1.7–4.2). Set to 1.0 to view CO₂-only.
